Farmhouse kitchen ideas
This galley kitchen started with honey oak cabinets, a beige laminate counter and a stainless sink under a fluorescent panel. The app took that one photo, once, and returned a bright farmhouse kitchen with sage and white shaker cabinets, butcher block and black iron hardware. Nothing was touched up afterwards; the window, wall tile and refrigerator are as photographed.
The palette

Named in the design brief the app wrote for this room; the strip is sampled from the result itself.

What changed
- The oak base cabinets became sage green painted shaker cabinets with black iron cup and bar pulls.
- The beige laminate became a thick honey oak butcher block countertop.
- The oak upper cabinets became warm white shaker cabinets with black iron pulls.
- The stainless double sink became a white fireclay apron-front sink with a black gooseneck faucet, above sage doors with black strap hinges.
- The fluorescent panel became a black iron bar fixture with two white enamel dome shades.
- The cookbooks, papers, black coffee maker and fridge magnets were cleared; an enamel pitcher of wooden spoons, a leaning cutting board, a gingham café curtain and a black-and-white gingham runner were added.
Get the look
Split the colour by height
Sage on the base cabinets and white on the uppers keeps a narrow galley bright while still giving it colour.
Pick one hardware finish
Matte black on the pulls, hinges, faucet, light fixture and curtain rod ties the room together. Keep it to small accents.
Add warmth with wood and cotton
A butcher block counter, a cutting board, a café curtain and a gingham runner soften painted cabinets and an old floor.
