Scandinavian bedroom ideas
This starts from a tired bedroom: red velvet bed, red armchair, dark bedside furniture. The app redesigned that single photo in one pass into a pale Scandinavian room of blond oak, light ash and warm white linen, with dusty blue kept to a few accents. The plaster walls, the door and the old enamel pitcher are untouched.
The palette
Blond wood with a dusty blue thread
Named in the design brief the app wrote for this room; the strip is sampled from the result itself.
- Warm whitethe duvet, the lampshade and the rug
- Pale blond oakthe bed frame, slatted headboard, bedside cabinet and chair frame
- Light ashthe small bedside table and the floor lamp
- Oatmeal linenthe armchair and the cushions on the bed
- Dusty bluethe throw, the chair cushion and the rug's border line
What changed
- The red velvet bed became a slim blond oak bed in warm white washed linen, with a dusty blue throw across the foot.
- The red upholstered headboard became a blond oak headboard of vertical slats.
- The red velvet armchair became an oatmeal linen lounge chair on a curved oak frame, with a dusty blue cushion.
- The dark bedside cabinet became a pale oak cabinet on tapered legs with one drawer and an open shelf, topped by a white ceramic vase.
- The small dark table behind the bed became a light ash bedside table with a single drawer, and the old floor lamp became a slim ash lamp with a white linen drum shade.
- The diamond-pattern rug became a larger warm white flatweave with a dusty blue border line and fringed edges; the black metal chair frame and the hanging lampshade were removed.
Get the look
Two pale woods are enough
Blond oak for the big pieces and light ash for the small ones keeps the room light without every piece looking identical.
Rumpled linen, not satin
A washed linen duvet with soft creases looks relaxed. Layer oatmeal and white pillows rather than sticking to a single shade.
Use blue as a line, not a block
Dusty blue shows up in the throw, one cushion and a thin rug border. Small touches of one muted colour keep a pale room from feeling flat.
